There are sayings that beanbags are filled with green beans as the bean refills, but the truth is – that’s a hoax! Ever since beanbags were introduced by the a few Italians in the 60s, the filling used has always been polystyrene beads. In reality, to fill in the beanbags with green beans can be done but it would cause the beanbags to be very much heavier than the normal beanbags filled with polystyrene beads. Furthermore green beans will tend to be molded due to the non-airy condition inside the beanbags which could affect the fabric as well.
For Lullabean, all our beanbags are filled with polystyrene beads measuring 4 to 6 mm. Over a period of time which also subjected to frequency and severity (weight of users :)) the beans will become depleted and your beanbag chair started to fall.
For your chair that has flattened with use, add more bean refills to restore it to its original fluff condition. The fill is needs to be fast and simple to insert for satisfying results. Together, these beans shift to conform to the shape of your body for soothing support. Besides beanbags, they are also good for various craft and sewing applications.
Having a beanbag with a small opener to fill in the beans would be a disaster, that is why, Lullabean beanbags have large zipper opener to make your works easy.
SO, how many kgs do you need for the beanbag? Here’s a simple formula to understand :
- Empty beanbag : 2 to 3 kg for normal size bean bag.
- Empty beanbag : 4 to 5 kg for supernormal size bean bags incl. big square beanbag.
- Refilling : 0.5 to 1 kg per beanbag (usual flat condition)
- Your beanbag filling is in liter? 100 liter is about to 1.3 kg
